Consistent quality, keep coming back

This is my third year with Helm News, and I just renewed my annual subscription. I initially started with the Professional Vocabulary Training, and now I mostly use the Daily News Lessons and Audio News Articles. The content consistently stays fresh, which is why I keep coming back. I've seen them add more languages over time too, which is a nice expansion. I've never had any major issues with billing or accessing my account across different devices. It's reliable, and that's important to me for a subscription service.

Good value, thorough content

I signed up for the Helm News Subscription a few weeks ago, specifically for the Professional Vocabulary Training. The ordering process was pretty straightforward on their website. I used a promo code I found online, and it applied correctly at checkout. I got instant access to all the modules. The content itself is quite detailed; they break down news articles and highlight key vocabulary with good explanations and context. I appreciate the Interactive News Quizzes; they help reinforce what I've learned. So far, the platform has been stable, and I haven't run into any technical glitches. I also checked out some of the Daily News Lessons, and they update frequently, which is nice. Overall, it's a solid platform for improving language skills through current events.

Decent learning tool, minor issues

I subscribed to Helm News for the Business English Modules. The sign-up was easy enough, and I got the annual subscription discount, which made it a good value. The lessons are well-structured, and I found the content relevant for my professional needs. I liked how they integrate current events into the language practice. My main critique is that sometimes the interactive quizzes can be a bit finicky on my older tablet, though it works fine on my laptop. Also, while customer support responded to my query about multi-device use fairly quickly, it took about 24 hours. Overall, I'm satisfied with the product for the price, but there's a little room for improvement on the tech side.

Easy to use, learned a lot

I tried out the Helm News for a month, mainly for the Daily News Lessons. It was super easy to get started. I just signed up, and everything was right there. I really liked reading the news and then doing the little quizzes. It didn't feel like studying, which was cool. I could use it on my phone during my commute. It made learning new words pretty painless. Definitely worth it.

So helpful for learning!

Oh my gosh, Helm News is amazing! I got the Language Learning via News and it's just what I needed. The Audio News Articles are so clear and I love the Vocabulary Flashcards. I'm actually looking forward to my lessons now! I'm definitely going to keep my subscription going and tell all my friends about it. So glad I found this!

Thinking about getting a subscription for Helm News. How's the daily content update? Is it actually 'daily' or more like every few days?

L Leah Brown 2 weeks ago
Yeah, it's pretty much daily. I've been using it for a couple months and there's always something new when I log in.

They add new stuff all the time. Sometimes a few articles/lessons, sometimes just one. Feels consistent though, never felt like I was waiting around for new content.

Hey, I saw some ads for Helm News vs Duolingo. Is it really that different? Like, is it better for actually learning or just more news-focused?

D Donna Martin 3 weeks ago
It's way different than Duolingo. Duolingo is good for basics but Helm is more like, real-world language practice with current events. You learn practical vocab you'd actually use.

Yeah, Duolingo is more gamified. Helm feels more like a serious learning tool, especially if you want business English or just to understand news articles in another language. It's not as flashy, but more effective imo.

Can I stack a referral code with a seasonal sale discount on Helm News? Trying to get the best deal for an annual plan.

N Nancy Robinson 1 week ago
Nah, pretty sure you can only use one discount at a time. Most places are like that.

From what I remember when I signed up, discounts are usually one per account and can't be combined. So probably have to pick the better deal.

Anyone know if you can use the same Helm News account on like, your phone and a tablet at the same time? Or is it locked to one device?

B Betty J. 1 week ago
I use it on my laptop and phone, no problem. I think you can use it on a few devices, just not simultaneously like sharing it with a bunch of people.

S Susan N. 1 week ago
Yep, totally fine. I switch between my work computer and home tablet all the time. It just logs you in on the new device.

Does Helm News do any kind of student discount? I'm trying to learn Spanish and anything helps with the budget lol.

R Richard 3 weeks ago
Pretty sure they do! I remember seeing it mentioned somewhere on their site when I signed up. Check their FAQs or the sign-up page.

L Linda Wright 3 weeks ago
Yeah, they have student discounts. I think also educator discounts too, so worth looking into if you fit either of those categories.
